An Improved Offering for an Under-Served Market

Every market is, in some respect, under-served.  Customers can always be made better off.  That creates opportunities for revenue and profit growth.

Retrofit LLC, a Chicago-area startup, is an exciting example of creating a differentiated service offering that improves upon what else is available in the marketplace.

Retrofit serves people who are heavier than they want to be.  The promise: Retrofit will help people to lose 10% or more of their body weight, for good, within a year.  The company offers a data-driven program (a simple wireless device worn on the body collects the data), with a dietician, exercise physiologist, and behavior coach to support the change program.

Their video of “how it works” is a good example of Retrofit’s appealing, well-designed interface for their online weight loss program.

The company is tackling a common need with a fresh approach that can deliver life-changing benefits for individuals, their employers, and society.  

With funding, a very credible management team (I know two members), and impressive advisory board backing this weight loss management approach, this will be a company to watch.  I’ll be rooting for Retrofit’s success!
